Glutamine is a free form amino acid that's abundant in the body and in most protein rich foods. It's an important amino acid intermediate to a number of processes throughout the body. Glutamine is crucial for protein synthesis and is depleted during heavy exercise. Under these circumstances glutamine may be considered a conditionally essential amino acid. Thus, it has been shown that glutamine supplementation can boost muscular growth.
