Beta-Alanine is a non-essential amino acid that is used by muscle cells to synthesize Carnosine. Carnosine functions as a buffer against acid that is produced during strenuous exercise to maintain an optimal muscle pH. When your Carnosine levels are increased prior to a workout your muscles are able generate more power and strength. Increased Carnosine levels also delay muscle fatigue and promotes recovery.
